New laws regarding spa and pool barriers
Victoria's new laws for improving safety in swimming pools and spas came into force on December 1, 2019. They include new inspection, certification and registration requirements for property owners. These changes require that owners register their pool or spa with the local council. They also need to have their safety barriers inspected every four years. A safety barrier must be installed around any Victorian residential pool or spa with a depth greater than 30cm (300mm). Inflatable pools are also subject to this rule.
