Gifts for Kids

What's a good gift for kids?

The best gifts for kids get them playing every day: a ride-on car, a trampoline with a safety net, a sandpit or a pretend play kitchen. One bigger outdoor gift often gets more use than several small toys. At Tanstella kids' gifts start at about $27 and most are $110 to $285.

Kids' gift ideas by age

• Ages 3 to 5: pretend play kitchens, sand and water tables, sandpits, a 4.5 ft trampoline with a net, and 12V ride-on cars with a parent remote.
• Ages 6 to 8: pedal go-karts, bigger ride-on cars, slide and swing sets and adjustable basketball hoops.
• Ages 9 to 12: 8 ft and 10 ft trampolines and full-height basketball hoops (up to 3.05 m).

For toddler and preschool play sets, see kids play sets. Always check the age guide on each product page.

How to choose a kids' gift

1. Check the age and weight limits on the product page.
2. Measure the yard: leave clear space on every side of a trampoline.
3. For ride-ons, a parent remote lets you steer until they're confident. Charge the battery fully before the first ride.
4. Plan where to hide it. Big gifts arrive flat-packed in a large box, so build it after bedtime.

Kids' gifts by budget

• Under $100: sand and water tables, pretend play sets, kids picnic tables, small basketball hoops
• $100 to $300: ride-on cars, small trampolines, sandpits with canopies, play kitchens
• Over $300: 8 ft and bigger trampolines, licensed ride-on cars, slide and swing sets, full-height hoops. These make good family chip-in gifts.
